Any Cup Explanation
The Routine
ANY CUP is a stage mentalism routine built around the human senses.
The performer places four identical, ordinary paper cups on the table.
A volunteer freely decides what drink goes into each cup, in full view of the audience.
Once the drinks are poured, the volunteer is asked to mix the cups as much as they like — eliminating any memory of which drink is in which cup, for both the performer and the audience.
The experiment begins.
Working Through the Senses
The volunteer is invited to choose one of the cups. Only he sees which drink is inside that cup.
Once he chooses a cup and looks inside ,the magician reveals what he is looking at.
This can be for all senses .
There is no fixed order.
Each phase is based on a different human sense:
-
Sight – The volunteer simply looks at a cup. No touching, no smelling.
-
Hearing – The cup is gently shaken and the sound is heard.
-
Smell – The volunteer smells the drink inside the cup.
-
Touch – Only the outside of the cup is touched.
-
Taste – The volunteer takes a sip.
In the final phase, several spectators freely pick cups and drink from them — and the performer reveals who drank what.
The Effect
Without asking questions…
Without seeing inside the cups…
Without touching them…
The performer correctly identifies the exact drink chosen each time.
Important Notes for Performers
-
The order of the senses is completely flexible
-
Each phase can stand alone or be combined
-
The presentation frames the effect as human ability, not magic

How It Works
ANY CUP is a smart mentalism system hidden inside completely ordinary paper cups.
Each cup secretly communicates with a compact receiver worn by the performer, delivering real-time information —
with no visible electronics, no markings, and no contact from the magician during performance.
The system works on two clear layers:
-
Selection & Hold – the moment a spectator picks up one cup from the table
-
Tilt & Drink – when the cup is tilted or the spectator takes a sip
You simply receive the information and present it as trained perception and sense-reading.
Everything happens silently in the background.
On stage, the audience sees only pure mentalism.
System Components
1. Receiver
-
Personal vibration receiver worn by the performer
-
On / Off button
-
USB-C charging port
-
Control button to select vibration strength (1–5), cycling with each press
-
Information is received through distinct vibration patterns, with no sound and no visual indicators.
2. Cup Transmitters
-
Miniature transmitters installed inside standard disposable paper cups
-
Each transmitter has its own On / Off switch
-
Completely hidden from the audience
Sticker Sheet – Replacement Adhesive for the Chips
The included sticker sheet is intended for the chips themselves.
Each chip you received already comes with double-sided adhesive pre-applied. However, if the adhesive weakens over time with use, you can simply apply a new sticker from the provided sheet to restore full performance.

Dual-Layer Detection System
Layer One – Lift Detection
-
When all cups are resting on the table
-
And a spectator lifts one cup from the table
The transmitter in that cup sends a signal to the receiver, allowing immediate identification of the selected cup.
This layer works without tilting or drinking.
Layer Two – Tilt / Drink Detection
-
When the cup is tilted
-
Or when the spectator drinks from the cup
The transmitter sends additional information to the receiver, allowing real-time detection of the action.
Timing & Stability System (Internal Timer)
The system includes a built-in timing mechanism:
-
Approximately 3 seconds of delay between transmissions
-
A cup must remain stable on the table before a signal can be sent
-
Minor movement, sliding, or playing with the cup will not trigger transmission
This prevents false signals and ensures reliable operation in live environments.
Multiple Cup Handling
-
The system supports simultaneous detection of more than one cup
-
Lifting or drinking from two cups at the same time can be identified
-
Information is transmitted in a clear vibration sequence
Power & Maintenance
-
Receiver is rechargeable via USB-C
-
Transmitter batteries are replaceable
-
Once a transmitter is removed, the cup is not reused (to avoid leakage or damage)
